Halfway celebration in Chester! Woot woot! :)

Well yesterday I crossed the halfway pt on the PCT–mile 1326.5, and today I’m celebrating in the town of Chester, Ca. It’s really cute, small and very hiker friendly. As soon as we got to the hwy we got a ride from the local trail angel,
Piper’s mom. She took us into town where we stopped first at the dentist office. Yes, the dentist. They absolutely love PCT hikers and welcome them into their office for free toothpaste, toothbrush, floss, cookies and a $20 dollar voucher for food at the Mexican restaurant. Sweet!!!! So awesome. And they even let us stash our packs behind in the carport while we ran around town doing our errands and they let us charge our phones. Such a helpful place. So once we did that I went over to the post office then made all my phone calls to family and friends. Then I went to the Mexican restaurant with g-dub, messenger, and rymnocerous and ate a good meal with a negro modelo 🙂 all for free! So it was then that I decided to stay the night in town because I could split the cost of an 80$ room with my fellow lunch mates. So we left, got our stuff from the dentist and went to the grocery store to resupply. I just needed a few things to get me to Burney. Then we decided on the antlers motel and were stunned by the large size and fanciness. So nice! Next was laundry and a shower and of course ice cream from the pine shack frosty. Also had a corn dog. Mmmm. So nice. Good to be here and I feel great. It’s been hot and humid and a bit dry but still awesome. Had some great views of lassen recently and had a big group of hikers around me. Haven’t been alone at all since dawn left at truckee. It’s a blast! Beldentown was crazy! A big rave/party town on the river. So strange. Glad to be out of there. The climb down into it and out of it was long, hot, steep, and full of poison oak. But now it’s great and much mellower. Can’t believe I am halfway done! So strong now, and doing 25 miles a day. Let’s see what else….my legs are as tan as they have ever been, I have holes in all my socks, a bit of back chafe and some great mental clarity 🙂 love this adventure! Thanks for all your support!

Congratulations! We look forward to seeing you and Frazier up here in Washington. The PCT runs through Snoqualmie Pass which is only 40 minutes from our house!
