First official day on the PCT!!!!!!!

I hiked my first official day of the PCT today. Its official because it was from the border o mexico ab d cali! I hiked 20 miles back to lak morena where I was greeted by the andersons (amazing trail angels), a big group of past and present hikers and ice cold drinks! The Anderson’s were cooking up huge pots of chili for everyone which I ate after a trip to the c store, a shower, and some relaxing. The chili was amazing! Maybe the best I ever had!

So now some quick info on the hike since I’m really tiresld and need to get up at 5 to start hiking tomorrow.

The border was totally safe and actually kinda quiet. We took some quick pics and we were off! I started with about 6 other hikers and had a great time. It was pretty hot but also really beautiful. The first 10 miles were fast and had a bunch of beautiful plants in bloom like yucca larkspur penstemon chamise sage bush monkey flower dudleya and manzanita. I loved it an only suffered on blister i think from heat. But it was great and ready for more tomorrow! Tomorrow I hike to mount Laguna!!

Well goodnight and I love you all!!

PS I got an official trail name today from tattoo Joe: ‘d’ which I will share the story o tomorrow πŸ™‚

Happy trails, Jamie! We’re reading your posts over here in Florida…thanks for sharing your story!

PS–we bought a new backpack Saturday–I went from 7 lbs (my old North Face) to just 2 lbs (Granite Gear). Nothing like dropping 5 lbs in a mere few minutes πŸ˜‰
