So I am first trail angel experience and its pretty awesome! I did 19 miles today and I’m pretty proud of myself. I told myself yesterday after having done only 12 mi that I would need to reach hikertown by today’s end. And then did! Right at 6 pm too! Before dark woohoo! I was definitely tired and sore but nothing I couldn’t handle. My feet started to be sore at mile 10 and the only muscle that really got tight and could use some time in a hot tub is my hips/top of my butt. My neck an shoulders are a tad sore too. Other than that I’
m pretty good.
Since I didn’t write anything down yesterday I wanted to jot a few notes before I forget.
* had a big brown owl fly right over my head and then turn towards me so I could see him—super cool and prob highlight of the day
*scenery was constant
*got to camp at a hunters campground where I had the luxury of another picnic table and a flat spot to pit h my wonderful tent.
* haven’t seen anyone else on the trail except for some dirt bikers at the camp.
* I’m not experiencing much fear or loneliness yet which surprises me
* I have handled the cold windiness pretty damn well which also surprises me.
* have seen lots of cool plants and new wildflowers.
* so far I like all my gear yay!
So tonight I am at hiker town a trail Angel house in Lancaster. Its pretty trippy. The couple is very eclectic and random and has 5 dogs and chickens. They have a main house a separate 3 car garage where they let hikers stay (there are 3 coaches a bathroom and a kitchen plus laundry room!) And then 4 small side by side bldgs that they have decorated like an old Western town (school house, jail, sheriff and motel plus an antique storage room that their cat lines to hang out in). So it is very interesting! Bob the guy here took me to town to the small c- store so I could get a few high calorie high fat snacks 🙂 I made myself pasta with salmon tonight for dinner and ate a Klondike bar plus some rolos for dessert 🙂
I think I will rest part of the day here tomorrow then get back on the trail. Have to make it to Mojave by Monday afternoon.
Today I feel better mentally. It was really hard getting out of the car on Monday leaving Frazier. But I know he will be joining me soon and I know that I needed to have an adventure. I will be a that much better of a person and learn a few things too. I think I will gain a brand new perspective on life.
Well more tomorrow!! Love and miss you all and thanks for your support!
I’m a nerdy hiker!
